How Contract Grade Furniture is Built Differently
Although furniture for commercial use is designed for comfort and style like residential furniture, the main difference between contract-grade furniture and typical home furnishings is its adherence to a set of safety and durability standards set by The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association, also known as, BIFMA. In 2021, BIFMA launched a new program called BIFMA Compliant® which is an industry-wide registry of furniture products that conform to BIFMA safety and durability standards. CB2 must adhere to these rigorous standards when testing products to make sure they are durable for commercial settings. The ultimate goal of BIFMA Compliant® is to provide assurance to consumers, and the designers making recommendations to clients, that their furniture is quality and safe.
