Paris, France
Award-winning product and furniture designers Dimitri Zephir and Florian Dach founded their Paris-based creative studio dach&zephir in 2016 as a way to celebrate the urgent and necessary diversity of the world. Mixing fervor and poetry, their work is a balance between storytelling and decorative arts—love letters to the histories and cultures of the West Indies, Guadeloupe and beyond.
From a leaf found in a river to traditional Guadeloupean broom, the designers often begin with botanics and verdant materials when designing fine objects.
From France to Guadeloupe
Largely influenced by Caribbean narratives, dach&zephir look to historical and vernacular pieces, rituals and shapes to inform their work. They often blend the past and present, from vintage French designs of the early twentieth century to the colorful costumes of Creole Carnaval and flowers of Guadeloupe.
“Offering a bouquet with hanging heliconia is a way of showing attention and loyalty. The sculpture was designed as a way to share this sensory and emotional experience—wherever you may be.”
