Artist Patrick St. Germain is inspired by beauty in decay. "I am heavily influenced by objects that bear an archival quality," he says. "I love the sense of timelessness." In "Veil," rippled sheets of canvas are "aged" through a process of soaking and drying, then affixed to a stretched canvas. A sand acrylic medium and black gesso, both applied by hand, draw the eye to negative spaces within the fabric.
Patrick St. Germain is a Montreal-based artist who works mostly with acrylic paint, resin, metallics and pastels. He describes his style of art as primarily abstract, textural and complex. "I love to explore the grandeur of nature by weaving abstraction and landscape into my own personal visual language."
