"On the coldest winter days, the ice that forms has a special quality to it—a fractal pattern," says artist Ksenia Sizaya. "It covers windows, lakes and ponds, and gives an otherworldly look to the landscape and surroundings." In "Swell," she incorporates pooled paint and dry brushing to create a highly textured interpretation of the world in winter.
Ksenia Sizaya is a Montreal-based artist who was trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed her master's degree in graphic art. Sizaya says her art is influenced by abstract expressionism and modernism. "I've always been a creative person, even as a small child. Design and art have always been a major part of my life." The artist is inspired by city life imagery and the outdoors.
