"Sometimes I just explore the medium and let the shapes develop from my subconscious mind," says artist Stephane Fontaine. In "Stacks," the artist's creative route was both serendipitous and meandering, creating texture and shapes through acrylics. "This is an abstract that doesn't make me think of anything in the physical world," he says. "I don't know what it is; it just happened with a palette knife."
