Inspired by a quilt, "Solas" by Ksenia Sizaya features dynamic brushstrokes of sand gel mixed with acrylic paint. "I thought of my quilt growing up for this piece—how our treasured objects age like we do and become something softer," explains the artist. CB2 exclusive.
Ksenia Sizaya is a Montreal-based artist who was trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed her master's degree in graphic art. Sizaya says her art is influenced by abstract expressionism and modernism. "I've always been a creative person, even as a small child. Design and art have always been a major part of my life." The artist is inspired by city life imagery and the outdoors.
