For artist Steven Sabados, skull imagery has positive spiritual meaning. "It's a form of sculpture that we as humans all share, no matter what level of society we come from," he explains. "In this piece, the multiple layers of skull imagery reflect an excavation of humankind." Ultimately, "Mutki" is intended to instill a sense of peace, calm and balance.
