"I enjoy how these simple shapes tell a story on their own or interact as a dynamic, high-contrast collection," says artist Steven Sabados. Part of a series of black and white drawings, "Monochrome III" explores the relationship among geometry, negative space and contrast. Bold graphic shapes, embellished with black ink, give the illusion of dimension and seem to engage with one another.
Steven Sabados is a Toronto-based artist who draws on layers of emotion, personal reflection and unique artisanal techniques to create his meditative works. "I like to interplay multiple forms of artistry—spray paint, chalk, oil, pastel, photography, silk screen—and layer them to create a rich collage."
