VACATION VIBES COME HOME

BRB, stealing all the ideas from the latest crop of luxury stays

If you’re anything like us, where you stay when traveling is so much more than just a place to lay your head at night. In fact, we’ve been known to book a hotel or vacation rental strictly for the decor — or even plan a whole trip around where we stay.

And if travel is one of the ultimate sources of inspiration, why not bring some of that home, too? We wanted to channel the aesthetic of some of our favorite stays, so we went straight to the sources to get the scoop on how to make your house look like a hotel. Read on to see how boutique luxury hospitality companies HOTELette, Dreamers Welcome and Sonder create design-centric, lust-worthy spaces (featuring some of our favorite CB2 pieces, of course).

HOTELETTE

HOTELette is a collection of luxury stays in Austin, Dallas and Nashville for “design lovers, weekend dreamers, adventurers and aesthetes.” We love the way each property blends the comfort and convenience of a vacation rental with the thoughtful, elevated styling of a boutique hotel for a uniquely HOTELette experience.

Founder Allison Crawford says that “the Lubi Sleeper Bed is a staple at HOTELette,” and it makes appearances in both HOTELette Austin and Dallas. Its clean lines work in practically any design scheme while providing “space to read, sleep or daydream.”

Similarly, Allison says that “the Mantis Light is a go-to light fixture … it adds drama and height to every space.” It’s pictured here in a modern bedroom in the Austin location.

DREAMERS WELCOME

A 130 year old Victorian home in Wilmington, North Carolina has been converted into an eco-friendly inn known as Dreamers Welcome. Founder Stephan Watts describes it as “equal parts minimal and tropical, cozy and airy,” with recently-renovated accommodations that have been “whimsically curated with a focus on art, design, inclusion and sustainability.”

The Romantic Room, pictured above, features the Lunar Queen Velvet Bed, Peekaboo Acrylic Bench and Marble Floor Lamp nestled among an original, hand-carved working fireplace and bay windows that look out into the garden.

The Curvo Pink Velvet Sofa from the goop collection serves as the centerpiece of the lobby, which was designed around it. “We wanted to deliver an ‘80s Miami vibe. Tropical, sexy but minimal,” Stephan explains. “We also did not want to completely neglect the fact that we are inside a Victorian house.” More CB2 pieces are nestled throughout the historic home, like the Bobila Cane Bed in the Visionary Room and the Avorio Side Table in the Traveler Room.

SONDER

Sonder has places to stay all around the world, from Rome to San Francisco, but each space is selected and designed with intention and care to create a unique experience that reflects the neighborhood. They feel like somewhere you’d actually want to live, but with added hospitality and hotel amenities.

The San Diego Sonder space above channels rock ‘n’ roll edge through our Animal Print Leather Butterfly Chair and Lawndale Sofa — not to mention the building’s industrial architecture and indoor/outdoor living space.

In Boston, the vibe leans a bit more luxe and sophisticated thanks to classic pieces like the Alchemy Bed and Taylor Bone Inlay Side Table, while the Miami Sonder experience perfectly captures beach party vibes through the Malawi Chair and neon accents.
