The empty space beneath the pot allows plenty of room for trailing, viney plants to grow their tendrils. Easy-care houseplants that will cascade from the basket include spider plants, ivy, philodendron and pothos (sometimes called Devil’s ivy). During the holiday season, plant a bouquet of poinsettias in a pair of coordinating pots and hang them on either side of the front door—inside the entryway, as poinsettias cannot withstand the winter chill. While the rule of thumb for houseplants is one per hanging planter, feel free to create a mini elevated garden in one large pot with a selection of succulents with similar light, temperature and water needs. Suspended glass terrariums are super delicate, making them ideal for no-fuss, low-maintenance air plants and moss.
