AFTER A LONG DAY, I try to leave work behind and focus on my world at home—filled with kids, dogs, friends, my fella and dinners. The sense of togetherness I get from having a cocktail with a friend while my son does homework on the floor is grounding and life-affirming. Our home is designed around these moments—comfortable nooks for playing, lounging, just being present together. Also critical: Every room is as chic as it is inviting. There’s a layered quality—pieces from different places and times, accented by nostalgic objects amassed over the years. In that sense, concepting goop’s first home collection was easy.
Our priority was to nail this juxtaposition of functionality and elegance. Like goop, CB2 has a contemporary approach to making eclectic pieces harmonize within a room. With their support, we designed a collection that (we believe) meets the needs of modern families. The result: uniquely layered furniture and décor made with love and an almost obsessive attention to quality.
Every print, texture and finish has its own story, yet fits seamlessly within the collection. One of my favorites, the Curvo pink velvet sofa, is a nod to Italian midcentury design with its fluid lines; the Belsize wooden stools, which double as coffee tables, are inspired by African mortars. Put the couch and stools together and . . . magic. It's always been our goal to equip readers with the knowledge and products to help them make better choices—and with this collaboration, we bring that same intention to interiors with a collection that meets our high standards for quality, functionality and design.
