In "Estampas," Marcela Gutierrez creates a large-scale painting in a tonal black palette. Using sponges to apply layers of acrylic, the artist utilizes different weights and pressure in the stamping process to create a rich, complex pattern that unfolds rhythmically across the canvas. Marcela Gutierrez is an Ottawa-based artist who uses Modern, Scandinavian and Japanese influences to ignite her creativity and shape her unique vision. Born and raised in Colombia, Gutierrez draws inspiration from her travels as well as her diverse background. "This eclectic mix of influences drives me to create art that embodies comfort, serenity and timelessness, inviting viewers to embark on a contemplative journey of visual and emotional discovery," the artist explains.
