Snowstorms and snowboarding inspired the tonal black and white swirls of artist Ksenia Sizaya's "Bode" painting. "When a snowstorm starts in the mountains, it is not always violent. Sometimes it's a blanket that falls from above," she explains. The "looming obsidian shapes" call to mind mountain ridges, dark rocks and tree trunks still visible in the storm, rendered in layers of thick acrylic paint.
