Inspired by a style of abstract painting called color field, "Black Blocks I" uses the simplest of forms to create a bold and engaging image. "It was important to use only black paint because it creates a sense of permanence," explains artist Lune. Original artwork was created using acrylic and oil paints. Reproduced here using the artist's original techniques. Hangs in two orientations.
Lune is a Montreal-based artist who describes her style as the combination of simplicity and chaos, with a focus on mood through the use of color. "Color and texture have become the most important factors in my work, and they allow space for a viewer's interpretation."
