Overview

serene sips. SAIC yunomi teacup was created exclusively for Design Collab. This CB2 collaborative, now in its second year, brings together like-minded souls and design institutions. Design Collab No. 2 asked 12 students in the Designed Objects curriculum at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), "What does 'live well' mean in the context of home design?" Student Louis Kishfy took the simple idea of drinking tea to a whole new level. Channeling the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, these handmade teacups represent "a spiritual experience that embodies harmony, respect, purity and tranquility." Designed to be authentically Japanese, handmade rounds are partially glazed glossy white with earthy flecks of brown, stopping just short of the base to expose the rich tone of natural clay. No two are exactly alike.
