Inspired by the use of raw concrete in Brutalist architecture, "Kuro" is a balanced composition that is expressive yet stark. Using a mixture of acrylics and sand, Patrick St. Germain drags the mixture across the canvas to reveal a dark ground full of texture and grit. "I wanted to create a minimalist piece that exhibited a sense of weight and strength," he explains. Presented in a matte black frame that can be hung vertically or horizontally.
Patrick St. Germain is a Montreal-based artist who works mostly with acrylic paint, resin, metallics and pastels. He describes his style of art as primarily abstract, textural and complex. "I love to explore the grandeur of nature by weaving abstraction and landscape into my own personal visual language."
