We hop across the pond for our latest collaboration with iconic British fashion designer.
“A master of print and embellishment, exotic, vivacious, lavish”—such bold, colorful words accurately describe British designer Matthew Williamson’s quirky approach to fashion. And as often the case with creative types, he shares a passion for interiors, too, recently designing private residences for clients, a hotel’s secret garden, and collaborating with a variety of British interior brands (Osborne and Little, The Rug Company).
This fall, we’re honored to bring his elegantly-edgy style stateside with a collection that Matthew describes as “controlled bohemia.” Among the mix of products: a rainforest-patterned sofa, a butterfly table lamp, and a bright pink flamingo dish. The designs—which incorporate modern, feminine representations of nature—add flair and personality to any room.
The collection is a definite departure from other CB2 products, but it’s one that Managing Director Ryan Turf believes will inspire customers. “By working with Matthew, we’ve learned how to use prints and bold color in a fun, sophisticated ways on products we never imagined,” he says. The collaboration was an exciting challenge, Matthew admits: “CB2 is known for its modern American design aesthetic, slick and clean lines with a very contemporary feel. My work is quite rustic, artisanal and highly patterned and coloured, so the challenge was how to fuse the two together so they sit in harmony,” says Matthew.
