overview

circle of light. Designer Ceci Thompson lights up the room with a statement piece sure to steal the spotlight. Crossing the line between modern and industrial, Thompson observes "the design is pared down to the essentials—the bulb and its wiring." Overscaled to two and a half feet in diameter, slim ring of matte black powdercoated iron halos dramatic effect, illuminated by 12 bulbs (not included). Adding graphic intrigue, a dozen black SVT cords drape to create form and pattern, punctuating domed socket caps from matte black canopy. Brilliant with our globe bulbs or vintage-style filament bulbs. Learn about Ceci Thompson on our blog.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not exactly what I expected We finally hung it yesterday, in the living room, after it sat in the box for months, daring us to attempt installation. This is not an easy fixture to install. In the end, to save our marriage, we hired someone to help, for nearly the cost of the chandelier. IMO you need 2 ladders and 3 adults to install this: 2 up on ladders holding it and hooking it up (it is heavy) and 1 on the ground handing needed tools, cutting tape, etc. As other reviewers pointed out, you can't adjust the black wires after it is up, and it is a pain to take up and down. So we estimated the goal drop distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the bulb, and pulled in the black wires accordingly. Still we needed 2 trips up and down the ladders. Then more to level it (using the silver wires, which was relatively easy). Since the sockets do not attach to the ring frame, it is difficult to tell how much black wire to pull in. However, the black wire is thick, and the canopy will only hold so much wire (all the excess black and silver gets tucked into the canopy) without bursting from the ceiling. We have 10 feet ceilings, and our fixture drops about 2 feet from the ceiling. Ideally you need at least 2.5-3 feet of drop space - we have too much black wire out, to the point where the bends dip below the ring, but we can't jam any more into the canopy.I am still getting used to it -- it is visually massive (due to the black iron and many bulbs), and, given the excess, drooping wires, not as architectural as I would have hoped. We might move it to over the dining table, so we can drop it more. Either way I feel like we need to redo whatever room it is in -- it is that bold! And it has yellowed the room. We bought the recommended frosted 40w bulbs from CB2, after reading that the 60w would be too bright. Previously we had 1 basic white hanging bulb (we are renovating), and with this fixture, the room seems a bit less bright, ironically, even though we now have many many bulbs. And everything is now yellow. I am going to look for whiter light to use in this fixture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from beautiful but painful to install Recently purchased and installed this chandelier. The final product combined with edison bulbs (purchased elsewhere for cheaper) is beautiful. Two things about the design that were unexpected. The strings for the light have a rubberized coating. I thought from the picture it would be more of a rigid material. Also the lightbulb housing do not attach to the ring. So it makes them more cumbersome to deal with. Definitely need 2 people to install it as it was not very carefully designed to faciliated ceiling mounting. Despite the flaws, it is a great value and looks really nice in my home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Conversation Lighting Love this. Easy to install. We bought Edison bulbs which give the light a real retro\vintage look. Everyone asks us about this light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cool We installed today over our long wood dining room table and it gave just enough edge without going over the top. For a dining area or smaller rooms I would recommend 40 watt bulbs or less - or a dimmer switch. I bought 60 watts and they are way too bright.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Chandelier - Difficult to Hang Let me say I absolutely love how this chandelier looks! I just wish there were an easier way to hang it. We had to adjust the wires several times to get the height correct and to keep it straight...all while not getting it tangled!Overall, great product, just be ready to spend some time with a helper or two getting it right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful chandelier - FYI in regards to hanging Beautiful chandelier once installed. It is best installed with two people since the iron circle is particularly heavy. It took awhile pre-measuring the wires prior to hanging. Word of advice, the silver strings that are supposed to hold the weight can be adjusted once the chandelier is installed in the ceiling. If you feel like it needs to go down further, you can push down on the little pin at the base and you can pull the string downwards to give you more slack, or you can push the string upwards to make it tighter. However, you cannot readjust the black cables once you installed it in the ceiling, which makes it a hassle if you didn't measure/adjust it prior to hanging. Wiring was a snap - black, white, and ground wire. Match them, cap them, then wrap them up with electrical tape and you are good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic statement piece I bought this light to hang over my dining room table in my small one bedroom condo last summer. I have 9 ft high ceilings and adjusted the wires so that the light hangs about 2.5 ft down from the ceiling - at this height the wires really take on a very structural form which I love. I use globe filament bulbs here and have a dimmer installed (a must have in my opinon - otherwise this fixture is TOO bright for my small space). I get compliments every time someone visits. Would recommend to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Showstopper! I bought this chandelier for my new home before I even moved in. I was afraid it would overwhelm the space, but it is a perfect fit. I have a mix of antique and modern furnishings and it ties them together flawlessly. I have it hooked up to a dimmer switch and use clear 25 watt bulbs with visable filaments. Everyone who enters my home comments on how unique it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much light! I bought this light this winter to use as a main source of light in my loft. My loft was so dark before I had this light installed and now the entire room is super bright at any hour of the day. It also has an awesome feature where you can shorten the wires to make the light fit your space and not hang down too low! Lastly, the price is not outrageous for such a nice statement piece. I would highly recommend this light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A new bright spot I bought two of these to hang in my living room/dining room.I hung them closer to the ceiling than in the photos on here, and I still love the way the hanging cords look. This is a great fixture at a great price.I used 25 watt bulbs and the rooms are plenty bright, and my electrician is happy that I'm not overloading the electrical system in my old, old house. The only negative is that the circles on both fixtures seems to be a little warped and wonky, but it's not noticeable unless you are staring it down. All in all, I'm really happy with my purchase.
