Beautifully simple
We bought four of these towers to fit into two odd spaces created by the duct work in our home. They're very stable once they have some books on them and have adjustable feet.
When moving or positioning them, I made the mistake of lifting one by the shelf, which caused a little bit of the powdercoat to chip off near a hidden weld. Lift from the sides and you'll be all set.

Better than in the pictures
I hestitated. Should I really spend the money? There are cheaper bookshelves elsewhere. Now I am soooo glad I did. I bought one blue and three white, and they are smashing. And no assembly! All came right on time, very well packed, in perfect condition. And they both look great and function well. I wondered if metal shelves would be too industrial for my space, but they look clean, crisp, and contemporary, not institutional. Very happy with the product and the service.

really nice bookshelf!
We bought this shelf to fit in a really tiny spot in our kitchen to hold our cookbooks. It's fabulous! It's very stable, it has a sleek look and it holds quite a few books. I highly recommend it!

Perfect for small nooks
Bought the Carlson II white tower for the kitchen, to store all sorts of things we wanted close at hand: land line phone and Yellow pages; CDs; dictionaries; cookbooks; a puzzle to work on. You name it, we have it stashed in there. Yet it doesn't take any space at all!

Modern Space-Saver
I'm extremely happy with this purchase. It's a space-saver that actually looks attractive! Way better than ugly plastic organizers. Practical and multifunctional; I want more. The "cubbies" are the perfect size for magazines and tall books as well as pretty much anything else you can imagine. The CB2 felt storage bins fit perfectly and make the tower look even better. I have one in my bedroom, but it would look great in any room in the house. Buy it!

Perfect for small space!
I had a spine-style bookshelf set up on one side of my studio, but it was full and I felt I needed to reconcile the stack of leftover books in my closet. I also happened to have a 12-inch slice of wall available on the other side of the studio. I debated getting the Coop Tower but settled on the Carlson in white to keep things simple.
I really like the bookcase and I have been told it pulls together the room. Its height is an asset for my apartment, giving the illusion that I have more space than I do. I put my favorite table lamp on top of the Carlson tower and now it functions in place of a floor lamp, too.
I like the look of the felt boxes CB2 offers to go inside the Carlson shelves, although I bet DIY-minded types could also craft some nifty boxes with fabric and glue. I'll have to decide if I'm DIY-minded in this case.

Great for small spaces
I bought this to replace a larger clunky wooden bookshelf that I had in my studio apartment & couldn't be more pleased. The shelf looks great, holds lots of books (or other items) & has a tiny footprint & presence because of it's sleek (but sturdy) metal design. I plan on buying a second one.

Love it!
I received this unit as a birthday present. I needed a narrow shelving unit for my bathroom and the Carlson II white tower is perfect. It is sturdy and since it is made of metal, the walls are thin enough to ensure as much storage space as I could get.

Fantastic for the $$...
I have been looking at similar shelving units in several design shops, granted they are about a foot taller, but nearly twice the price... I love the modern, metal construction. They are super sturdy, and look great either solo or lined up together... AND they're SOOOOO multi-functional!!
Kitchen: Dishes. Hallway: Shoes & Bags. Office/Living: Books etc. Bedroom: Books & Catchall... Really a great GREAT purchase... ;)

i bought one of these to try out in my loft as a 2-sided room divider. it is very sturdy and the thin walls look very sleek and modern compared to 1" thick wood. the openings in the shelves make it look less massive too. the only downside is the back is not as finished as the front so there are noticeable welds and a lip on the open shelves. i think i am going to get 6 more and use all 7 as a room divider and stagger them a little with a small gap between each shelf, like the product photo (debating between this and the other white shelf for $299 offered here). no assembly required and the gloss white finish is very nice too.

Interesting tower
We ordered this item when it was just called the carlson. I guess this is a new version of the old one. We have this against a red wall and I love how you can see the red that peeks through the three open cubes.We use it to show off some of our trinkets and some small books. We love it!

Great Sturdy Bookcase
I purchased 3 of these to put in a hallway. They are only 10 inches deep so they are great for small spaces. It comes as one piece an all you have to do is screw in the feet and place in the location. The feet are adjustable so you can tilt the bookcase back towards the wall. They are weighted well so they feel secure even without being bolted to the wall- which is important in earthquake country.

Major Production Error!
I first purchased two of these shelves when it was the Carlson -- a few years ago before CB2 discontinued it and eventually brought it back from another manufacturer. The first version was great -- exactly what CB2 promised. With this second version, two of the holes that the feet screw into are not threaded -- so the two of the four feet don't attach!
I'm very disappointed, but would have been very pleased if the shelf was produced properly.
