nova dinnerware is rated 3.25 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these dishes! Highly recommend them. We bought 8 place settings a couple of months ago and love these dishes. They are feel more sturdy than I was expecting. The bowls and plates have a great shape to them. I was a tiny bit worried that these might feel a bit too much like the 80s with the black finish, but the style is modern and doesn't feel at all like an old style. As for the marks some other people are seeing, we barely see a few metal deposits (from our silverware) if I look really closely. It's nothing I'd even bother cleaning off, but I have no worries that a quick scrub with a touch of baking soda will take it right off. (Same thing I do for metal deposits from pans in my white porcelain sink.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great minimalist buy! We use these plates for our restaurant. They have a great look and are extremely durable: they hold up really well with the amount of use that they get. Also, the food looks beautiful on them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Look I bought these for a dinner party, and have been using them ever since. They look great with a white plate on top for a pretty place setting, plus they are microwave and dishwasher safe!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bowls are awesome. Plates will show marks. We bought a single plate and a bowl over a year ago and tested the wear and tear out on this matte finish. (Love the design of the entire set: shape, color and finish is refined and surprisingly lux!)The plate immediately showed knife marks if you pressed hard and its likely that it would happen repeatedly. These marks did not come off after hand washing or after the dishwasher. Normal silverware action did not leave any significant marks.So.... we bought 8 bowls and love them paired with white glazed plates. Living with them for a year now, use them every day and still love them.Recently we chipped one so I ordered 3 more. The finish seems to be slightlydifferent than the originals and possibly a little more durable. Perhaps they have adjusted the finish a little to improve the durability but I haven't tested it with a knife.Either way, still love them and would even recommend the plates if you don't mind a little "natural patina" from everyday use. The feel of the surface is so nice that it is probably worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Agree to disagree? I just ordered a few more settings- love these! I haven't had any problems with scratches, just "flatware deposits" as C+B mentions in one of their responses. These clean off quite easily (manually, the dishwasher won't take care of them). Definitely worth that tiny bit of effort to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Elegant look I bought a full set of 6 to use on a daily basis. They look great but the feel is a bit rough. I wish the finish was smoother but for the price it's not a bad option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chic and cool Love the plates, as the contrast with meals looks elegant and rather chic. The only star off is for the scratches on the bottom that become visible over time from using knives, so I suggest not using these for cutting intensive meals. I do like these a lot, and have bought more!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disagree with everyone Great productBroke a plate when I dropped it.  Going back for more soon. Fork marks.  Oh no!  Try cleaning them!! They wipe off.  Scratched through the paint.   Hmm never happened to me.  Lovely sturdy plates and so cheap they are great value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from paint scratches off easily While this matte black set looks awesomely cool the paint scratches off very easily. I bought 4 sets about 6 months ago and now I am about to throw everything away. Such a waste of money...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good, scratches easily I have to agree with the first reviewer, while these plates look really nice they scratch very easily. After the first use of a bowl eating cereal the spoon left several scratch marks in the bowl. This is just from eating cereal, I hate to see what these are going to look like after a month of normal use. Unfortunately I bought a set of 6 of these and spent a good amount of money on a set of plates that I will probably have to toss out very soon. Terrible waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Resist the impulse Purchased four of these salad plates as a high/low substitute to the coveted Heath coupe line in onyx. Four of these equals the price of one Heath, so I figured even if they were not the real deal, I could afford to live with it. I was curious too if porcelain versus earthenware might be undesirable, but on sight alone, they are very attractive. Size was perfect. The problem is that any fork scrapings leave very visible marks, even on first use. We didn't use knives, so I can't even imagine what that would do. Single use plates?? Next time I'll spring for earthenware.
