rolling retro. Woody rolls nostalgic in a nod to the vintage California surf scene. Capturing the carefree spirit of classic surfer culture, artist Parvez Taj "was inspired by a surf day in Malibu, a town where I spent two years in my 20s." The multimedia image is printed on reclaimed Douglas fir planks that have been harvested from old abandoned buildings in Southern California. Documenting the history of each building and the source of each timber, Taj selects planks which are then hand-assembled and printed with eco-friendly, UV-cured inks. Weathered and distressed, each print is evidence of the concept of beauty as rendered by the elements of nature over time.
parvez taj is an LA-based artist who has pioneered the use of UV inks as a fine art medium. To achieve his original images, he freely mixes photography, water-based and acrylic paints, and UV inks with a variety of substrates, such as aluminum, canvas, cork and recycled woods. Each multimedia piece embodies Taj's creative vision and international inspiration.
