overview

stag a pose. Colonel deer suits up to rally the troops in a wild take on Victorian portraiture by artist Matthew Lew. Stag is humorously stoic, outfitted in an authentic double-breasted uniform with brass buttons. Originally created as an engraved etching layered with hand-drawn pen-and-ink illustration and digital design, Lew's modern historical tale is replicated here on a clear acrylic panel with precise detail and rich grayscale dimension. Floats clean in a solid walnut frame.

matthew lew. Chicago-based artist Matthew Lew creates original artwork marked by bold individuality. A painter, photographer and mixed-media artist, Lew plays with humor, references to urban life and reclaimed materials in his diverse body of work, which expresses his belief that art is life itself and ultimately contributes to one's place in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great addition Bought this for our hallway. the hallway is grey so this compliments it so well. this is not a painting that is framed take note. it would easily go with multiple color schemes and types of decor. its very unique and adds alot of character. its interesting without being too "out there"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from out of the box love how the print is itched in to the glass and neutral frame making it perfect for our household. The quirky subject matter, unconventional presentation and the fact that it's limited edition make make this piece a great value if its your style. The frame and construction are great quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the uniqueness of the piece My place is quite contemporary and this piece adds a little slice of humour. It arrived in very good condition. Love the way the wood frame compliments the image. I was surprised that the weight of the piece but with the glass, acrylic and frame I suppose it is to be expected. I get lots of comments on it. Most love it but others are confused by it (which is just as good.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Had to have it when I saw it. Came quickly and wrapped very well. No problems. The picture is actually on the inside of the glass, not on the paper, so it has depth to it. Like it more in person than I did online.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed feelings The day I saw this framed art in the catalog, I ordered it. Loved the play of this formal, victorian print with the head of a deer-and it fits in with the look of my place very well. So, I opened it up to check it out when it arrived. Everything looked good at first, until I took off the final layer of protective wrap. The print was cut short, so that there was a large gap in the upper left hand corner. You could see right through to the back of the frame. I can not believe this was not caught by quality control-as it was not hard to miss whatsoever. It was replaced by CB2, in a timely manner-which was appreciated. What surprised me is nothing was offered back to me for having to deal with this defective purchase. I have bought at CB and CB2 for years, so I think loyalty and inconvenience should be rewarded. The print itself is great, and I am very pleased with it.
