Not enough light to read
This is a well-made, very heavy lamp. The only problem is that the diffuser that covers the bulb blocks out most of the light. This is great for a dim ambient light and a very large design statement, but it is not possib le to read using it.

LOVE this lamp!
I've looked a long time to find the perfect lamp -- at a reasonable price -- for the corner behind the curve of my sectional sofa. I have a 6' plant there, but needed light, as well. I positioned this (very heavy!) lamp base partially under the plant pot, so the lamp looks like it is arcing up out of the plant. Looks almost like a pendant lamp without the ceiling cord. Very cool, non-obtrusive, and the dimmable bulb allows for different effects. I use a remote on-off switch, so unless I want to adjust the amount of light, I don't have to reach around to use the foot-switch that comes with the lamp. It's a little tricky to put together alone, but worth the effort. Love it!

Perfect lamp
My husband and I are thrilled with this light. It's a fabulous product, easy to put together, looks amazing over our dining room table with the best price out there. We keep on saying it was the best purchase ever!

Not over the top modern
We live in a house built in 1990 which has very little overhead lighting. There was none in the dining room and because of the rafters it was going to cost a fortune to have an electrician wire a ceiling fixture.
Enter this lamp. I was afraid that it would be too modern for our house but it is not at all. Granted our decor is not Victorian but it is fairly regular. This lamp works great and looks great. I wish I had bought it sooner.

Better than I expected!
I just got the big dipper lamp a few weeks ago and have no regrets. It was fairly easy for my husband to assemble, is high quality and sturdy and the light switch works as a dimmer too which was unexpected. The lamp gives a real modern 70's kind of vibe to our living room and gives a nice diffused light thanks to the lampshade having a shaded bottom part (I've never seen this before!).

Beautiful and stylish
Although the "tool" provided to put the lamp together was too large for the bolt, it was fairly easy to assemble with the right tool. The foot dimmer switch is not what I imagined; it is more of a sliding dimmer switch & I thought it would be a button you depressed with your foot. But overall I really do love the lamp! It is good quality, very attractive and goes with my contemporary styled living room perfectly. It is priced reasonably and arrived quickly. This is my first purchase with CB2 and I am very happy with this product and their service!

love this lamp
This lamp was great. It has added the light we needed to our den. I love the dimmer switch. My husband had it all set up before I had a chance to tell him other reviews said it was difficult to set up. He says it was easy.

Big Dipper Indeed!
Love this lamp so much. Put in in an area I really needed and overhead light that would have been expensive and difficult to install. Perfect! Have to say the first lamp arrived in poor shape in a damaged box.
CB2 immediately sent out a replacement and the first one was whisked away. Super customer service.

One AWESOME LAMP
A terrific lamp for its beauty and works so well if you want to read. I love the idea of the dimmer and it's not a glaring light that is too harsh. The shade is a lovely linen and the height is perfect for my high ceiling in the living room. It also is a great price for the quality.

In Love!!!
After thorough research and waiting 2 years, I finally told my husband I want this lamp. It was easy to assemble. It took me a little time to figure out how to adjust the arch, but went online and found the instructions. Awesome. Assembly was easy but you definitely need another person to put it together. Beautiful shade, love the dimmer. Lights up the room.

Love the Big Dipper
Was quite pleasantly surprised at how well-made this floor lamp is compared to the much more expensive ones I've seen. It is graciously lights a wide expanse of space over my over sized sectional sofa. And I love the shade......it softens the diffusion of light and it feels like the kind of lamp my family room has been waiting for.

two person job
I love my new lamp, but would agree with other posters that you need another set of hands to put it all together. The dimmer switch is great, and I especially enjoy that the lamp shade has material over the bottom, so that you're not going to end up with a bare bulb shining in your face. The only downside to this is that it's a bit tricky to maneuver your hand "just so" to screw in the light bulb.

Excellent floor lamp at an affordable price
The big dipper floor lamp was a wonderful addition to my living room. The lamp is heavy and the shade is beautiful and has little bit of texture. The on / off switch is a clear floor dimmer-easy to change your lighting. After shopping around a looking at expensive floor lamps-I am pleased that I found the perfect lamp at a great price!

chill lamp
Is what my 14-year-old son calls it. This wonderful lamp was easy to assemble and does exactly what I was hoping it would do. It provides enough light over the whole couch that it has become a much better place to relax and read. The diffuser means that I don't have to look up at a light bulb.

A "Best Value" product.
This lamp has great appearance, quality and performance for the money. I bought a less expensive lamp that was WAY cheaper looking, flimsy and flawed. I looked at more expensive lamps that were not as elegant.
The shade & shade filter look quality. The base is heavy & secure. Convenient on/off floor slide. Poles are sturdy, operate well to adjust.
Caution; this lamp is for a somewhat larger space. consider shade diamater, arc height/total reach & how it will fit into your space. Bought it for overhead light in my smallish dining rm, but had to move it to larger, more open living rm. Love it there!
