under exposed. Handthrown stoneware shows the potter's skill with a bold two-tone dip. Rimmed rounds are partially glazed grey with earthy flecks of brown, stopping just short of the base to expose the rich brown tone of black clay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from authentic and great size Bought for our new remodeled farmhouse because we wanted dishes that reflected the authentic but updated style. These were a great fit! They look good, feel good, and are generously proportioned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handmade Look for Less If you're like me and have been wanting a nice set of handmade looking everyday wear, this met my needs and my budget. As much as I wish I could splurge on a gorgeous everyday I cannot - but these are beautiful and have the speckled look I was wanting. At this price point there is nothing to complain about. The quality is fine, nothing bad to report. I've been using them for a few months and love that I decided to get a set. I have the salad plates and pair them with an all-black dinner plate set I have and it makes a nice pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love them, But wish I knew more when buying... I've had these for a little over 2 years now and they have stood-up wonderfully. However, when I first got them there were a couple of things that I wasn't thrilled about. First, the bottoms (which are the exposed clay) are not actually "black". The tone is more dark brown than black. Second, because of their hand thrown quality, they don't stack very neatly in a cabinet. All in all though, I'm still very happy with the set. Might even get a few more!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Looking, but Quality Issues The different pieces look great especially with rustic/industrial flatware set I have. Unfortunately qualitywise (in terms of using them to eat) it is a miss. If you eat things that require no cutting then you should be fine, but eating steak the large plates have scratches all over the top surface after one use. I do think durability otherwise seems fine. They feel like they would be hard to shatter; In terms of weight they are a little heavier then typical sets, but I think it is good in that accidental knocking of plates/bowls off the table would require more force.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Score! I splurged on my handmade ceramic tile backsplash, so finding these dishes to display on my open shelving was a score. Still remodeling so I can't speak for their durability, just their simple, minimalist beauty. Perfect 10.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful plates i just received these plates and haven not really used them yet, so I cannot speak to their durability (which based on other reviews my be and issue) but they look beautiful and held up well after the first dishwasher run. There is bit variation among the individual plates with respect to specific shape and even size, like you would get with handmade plates, but I think it adds to the character. They are a beautiful warm grey glaze and dark brown on the bottom, I pair them with the black coop salad plates and it looks fantastic! One of the plates did arrive broken, and I have contacted cb2 to get it replaced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Durable First off, I LOVE these dishes. We have the whole set, and they are so pretty. They aren't too feminine, so my husband loves them just as much as me. Every time we have company we get compliments on these dishes. Each one is just a little unique which is such a cool thing. The only reason I am giving these 4 out of 5 stars is because we had one break less than a year of getting it. It didn't drop or anything, just cracked right in half. We have since ordered a replacement and haven't had any problems since. I wonder if it was just a bad egg. All in all, these dishes are wonderful and something that not everyone has!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Coustomer Service I've had these on my sight for months, finally bought 12 sets of 3 pieces online, unfortunately, one of the dinner plates broke on the road. As the other reviews say, they are beautiful, but they easily break. They were delivered to me 10 days ago, have been trying CB2 customer service to solve this issue since then... No luck. It's been really annoying, never thought that would be such a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rustic yet modern design I was searching from some earthenware style ceramics for my dinnerware and found these beautiful two-tone pieces. I bought bowls, platters and large serving dishes. To add some variety to my place settings I pair them with some solid black and solid gray plates that CB2 also sells. This series fits really well with my modern/industrial style decor and they are very substantial pieces that are pretty heavy. For me the heft/weight of the pieces is a positive, but it's something to be aware of when purchasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love! We received these as a house-warming present and absolutely love them. We love the look, the feel, the weight, the styling, the material... and have been using them often. Especially love how the edges are turned up to stop food from spilling out of them. They haven't broken for us... yet (unlike other reviews) but maybe that's because we have been extra careful with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect! I bought the Black Clay Dinnerware about two months ago and I absolutely love it. It is worth noting that the bottom is definitely brown not black, as you may have read in other reviews. These are large bowls and plates, that look wonderful with a modern industrial or rustic look. We've gotten several compliments on them and they've been very durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this set! I own every piece in this collection down to the serving bowls and love it all! I love the weight, the feel, and the look of these pieces. My only complaint is that if you hit them at the right angle in the sink with another dish by accident, they break. I have to replace a plate and a bowl already, so I'm thinking about buying a few more just in case for backups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I have had 10 of each of this set for over 2 years and they are still going strong. They look brilliant with our gold flatware and industrial home and feel almost like Heath Ceramics but at a fraction of the price. Less even! The only caveat if you are buying online is that the bottoms are actually brown, not black and the tone of the grey is therefore a warm grey. Which personally I love. I wish they did more pieces for this collection! I have the large salad bowls and C&B have a few soup and mini bowls. But I want more! hehe
