under exposed. Handthrown stoneware shows the potter's skill with a bold two-tone dip. Rimmed rounds are partially glazed grey with earthy flecks of brown, stopping just short of the base to expose the rich brown tone of black clay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Coustomer Service I've had these on my sight for months, finally bought 12 sets of 3 pieces online, unfortunately, one of the dinner plates broke on the road. As the other reviews say, they are beautiful, but they easily break. They were delivered to me 10 days ago, have been trying CB2 customer service to solve this issue since then... No luck. It's been really annoying, never thought that would be such a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rustic yet modern design I was searching from some earthenware style ceramics for my dinnerware and found these beautiful two-tone pieces. I bought bowls, platters and large serving dishes. To add some variety to my place settings I pair them with some solid black and solid gray plates that CB2 also sells. This series fits really well with my modern/industrial style decor and they are very substantial pieces that are pretty heavy. For me the heft/weight of the pieces is a positive, but it's something to be aware of when purchasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love! We received these as a house-warming present and absolutely love them. We love the look, the feel, the weight, the styling, the material... and have been using them often. Especially love how the edges are turned up to stop food from spilling out of them. They haven't broken for us... yet (unlike other reviews) but maybe that's because we have been extra careful with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect! I bought the Black Clay Dinnerware about two months ago and I absolutely love it. It is worth noting that the bottom is definitely brown not black, as you may have read in other reviews. These are large bowls and plates, that look wonderful with a modern industrial or rustic look. We've gotten several compliments on them and they've been very durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this set! I own every piece in this collection down to the serving bowls and love it all! I love the weight, the feel, and the look of these pieces. My only complaint is that if you hit them at the right angle in the sink with another dish by accident, they break. I have to replace a plate and a bowl already, so I'm thinking about buying a few more just in case for backups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! I have had 10 of each of this set for over 2 years and they are still going strong. They look brilliant with our gold flatware and industrial home and feel almost like Heath Ceramics but at a fraction of the price. Less even! The only caveat if you are buying online is that the bottoms are actually brown, not black and the tone of the grey is therefore a warm grey. Which personally I love. I wish they did more pieces for this collection! I have the large salad bowls and C&B have a few soup and mini bowls. But I want more! hehe

Rated 3 out of 5 by from beautiful but inconsistent so i bought 12 of these plates online and on purpose, with the idea of keeping 8- this was based on reading reviews of inconsistency and imperfection, and sure enough, it was actually hard to find a really good 8... it seems like they are made in batches and so some were 'heavier' and more substantial and others were lighter and thinner- this didn't thrill me, but i am also a perfectionist. so the spots and glaze inconsistencies and what seemed like 'seconds' didn't thrill me either... Although, they were 'earthy', which is what i was going for- yes, as mentioned in some other reviews, the bottom was more dark brown than black ( i was glad about that), and after some selection, the ones that were 'good' were very good. overall i would say that if you are a picky person, these are probably better chosen in-store, if you're not that choosy and don't mind them being irregular, than you would probably be happy with them. i might also add, that the lip on the plates was quite large- maybe too large- so they seemed like somewhere in between a very shallow bowl and a plate. still, i am keeping my 8.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous design We currently have 4 of each of these & will be buying more soon as we love them so much. They are a good solid design and a nice size. They are a little bit heavy but this doesn't concern us as it shows them to be of good quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful style Bought many items from this collection to add a touch of industrial flare to the kitchen eat-in area. Absolutely love the way they display on my metal shelf or wood tabletop. The fact that this set is dishwasher and microwave safe absolutely seals the deal for me. Great for industrial, rustic or artisan styles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolest plates ever We bought the full set (dinner plates, side plates, and bowls) as our main dish set, and we couldn't be happier. They're very substantial — large and a bit heavy. The unique glazing of each item is cool, and the unglazed bottom gives great character.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted! I read reviews about bad finishes and people being annoyed with them not stacking perfectly, but I am very happy with mine. I found no blemishes in the finish and they go well with the copper flatware I bought.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our new go to dinnerware My husband and I needed new dinnerware after having the same set for 7 years. We had finally broken one too many plates and bowls. This set immediately caught our eye. We love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible texture but a little bottom heavy. As an artist I'm always looking for texture and beAuty to surround me outside of the studio. I purchased 4 bowls for the large scale of the bowls and the great color of the clay, it's texture contrast between the sheen of the white glaze and the dark warm exposed rough clay. Visually it's versatile with other pieces I have as serving ware yet also adds interest. Functionally it's scale works for salsas dips, soups and cereal. Unfortunately it's a bit bottom heavy and I personally am bothered by that. Still cb2 has been the best place for finding dining ware that is both modern and timeless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Earthy, Durable Dishes for a Natural Look I bought a few pieces of each (salad plate, dinner plate and bowls) online a few months ago just to see what these would look like in person. Even my boyfriend who typically doesn't have strong opinions on apartment furnishings and dishware immediately feel for these and thought we should order a full set. Each plate is unique and has slight color variations, giving them an almost handmade, natural look. The plates are on the shallow side and the lip makes them perfect for larger meals; the bowls are the perfect size for a hearty bowl of soup. Other reviewers have noted that the bottom color is closer to brown than black, as described, and I would agree -- however, I actually like this better -- more earthy looking.
