Cool light, came scratched
The light is great except it came with a few scratches on it. This kind of kills the effect of a clear lamp shade. Oh well.

Best lamp ever!
I loved this lamp from the moment I saw it in the catalog. One of my other lamps had just broke and instead of replacing it with the same one , I decided to stop my obsessing over the Cloche lamp and buy it! I didn't order the vintage style bulb at the time, but I wished I had because it looks the best with this lamp. I ended up buying one quickly after I received the lamp. I am very pleased with everything this lamp has to offer and very glad I purchased it.

Cool looking light
This lamp looks cool.
A bulb with a vintage-looking filament, such as the one CB2 sells, is mandatory. A CFL bulb just looks dumb, it defeats the purpose of having a stylish lamp in the first place, and I don't know why it comes with one.
Also, you need to get a dimmer cord, because 60W is just too bright. You want to be able to stare at the filaments glowing. Otherwise the light is too harsh (think of using a regular lamp without a lampshade - because that's what this is). So don't expect to use this lamp as much other than a supplementary light.
The glass shield is not perfect - it has some little bubbles in it, but I guess that adds to the charm of the lamp.

Cool light, but came scratched
I like this light a lot. The light bulb makes it. But the plastic cover came scratched which kind of ruins the sleekness of it.

ignore the complaints
This lamp is fantastic. Yes, there are little bubbles in the glass, yes the finish on the base is not uniform, to the whiners - did you look at the product??? Zoom in, it's very obvious. My lamp arrived looking just like the picture. As several people have mentioned, you do have to buy the bulb separately, and you do need a dimmer, but where else are you going to get a lamp like this for so cheap?!

yes...the bulb makes it
I read the reviews and knew only an Edison bulb would work in this lamp. Had one ready before the lamp arrived (ahead of schedule I might add). I have admired this lamp since it first appeared in the catalog and am not disappointed. Beautiful. With a 60w Edison bulb, exactly what my entryway needed (and the CFL included can be used elsewhere). As others have commented, the black cord is not appealing, but is well concealed in my location. The glass imperfections are perfect for this "period" piece.

Its less hip than you think
I thought it was cool and hip before I purchased one for my apt. The light bulb is wayyy too distracting on the eyes and the product itself is very fragile. In the catalog pictures the lamp has been photo retouched to appear dimmer and more inviting. It isn't the worst thing in the world but there are definitely better ones from CB2.

Stylish, simple
I love this lamp! it looks incredible in my living room and fits my style perfectly. I bought the classic filament lightbulb too and the light from it is perfect.
I did have to return the first one I ordered because the glass was uneven, but I exchanged it hassle free and the associate was very nice about it.

Quirky Vintage Desk Lamp
I love the glow that this lamp adds to my work area. It's bright-but not distracting-unless you are part moth. I purchased the filament bulb which adds a quirky, mad scientist vibe to the overall look. Yes, there are imperfections on the glass-but that is part of the lamp's allure.

Beautiful & well-made
I recently redesigned a room in my house and this lamp inspired the entire look! The glass is of good quality and the base is nice and heavy. I also filled the bottom of the lamp (surrounding the light bulb) with beer caps and wine corks. Gives it a really rustic, lived-in feel.

I do love this lamp even base is not perfect at all. I got a flickering flame light bulb 4 $3 and it looks absolutely perfect.

Great lamps
Lamps came quickly and were easy to assemble. Love the Edison light bulbs be sure to order those as well. Bought two they look great on my nightstands. They require some dusting every now and then but otherwise FABULOUS!

Great Lamp
Some of the reviews complain of defects: bubbles in glass, marks in the base, but these give it a great look.
I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, because the light it ships with is terrible and doesn't fit the look at all. You can pick up interesting Edison bulbs cheaply at most hardware stores though.

simple design, industrial/vintage without being kitschy. best to use a vintage bulb and a dimmer cord for max effect.

Magical Lamp
These lamps are absolutely magical! I love everything about them. The glass seems to be good quality with the hand blown detail of a few bubbles throughout. The bases are heavy and solid. We put them in our lakeside cottage and they have a campy feel, but could go rustic or modern etc. The filament edison bulbs are the way to go.

Great lamp, ugly cord
This lamp is lovely. Only drawback is the cord is black. I had to return it because the lamp was purchased for our entry way glass console table with no where to hide the unsightly black cord.

Just my style
Yes, this lamp is pricey. Yes, it looks MUCH better with the filament bulb, which go for $10 a pop. But in my opinion, totally worth it. Goes perfectly with my style, which is bohemian/cozy/eclectic/lofty, if that makes any sense. Love the old school style of it with the modern touch of brushed silver base. My only concern is how long the bulbs will last.This is a fabulous addition to my place.

Industrial warmth...
Great, simple fixture. You need the filament lamp to complete the look. I've got a dimmer switch added and it gives a really warm glow and gentle light off. Super simple design and good value for money. Great addition.

Cool, cool lamp
Looks great. Only minor con is that the glass is a little thin and simply sits on the base which is a little bit, I donno, cheap... but you wouldn't know that unless you picked it up or something. The Edison bulb is a must - note, it's a very warm, yellow light.
