Perfect size
Looked everywhere to find a very tall bookcase. This one was perfect. I like the way the ends act as book ends and keeps a minimalist style. It is very sturdy and looks great.

Wonderful bookshelves!
These bookshelves are beautiful! So clean and they hold LOTS of books. I did have to hire someone to unpack them and put them together and I would definitely recommend that unless you are a really strong do-it-yourselfer. I'm buying two more though, because now they make my other bookshelves look very schlumpy.

Love these shelves
I purchased two of these staircase shelves and mounted them side-by-side. I love the look and the storage they provide. My only concern is that some of the shelves don't line up left to right (i.e. the "steps" on shelf #1 don't always line up perfectly with the "steps" on shelf #2). I'm not sure there's any way to fix this issue, but otherwise the shelves are great quality for the price.

Beautiful shelves
These shelves look beautiful in my apartment. I put two together, to look like continuous shelving, which appears seamless, and another on a different wall. They're much more solid and heavier than I expected--these will not buckle, even when loaded up with my heavy books. I'd give five stars, but they're a little overpriced.

Love this Bookshelf!
I bought three of these to line up in a narrow pass-through room, where the stairs are. Our ceilings are 12 feet and these are the only shelves I found that could fill the space well. They are great - striking yet simple design and they hold a ton of stuff, they're really built well. Assembly was easy and they anchored with just two screws. One note, the shelves themselves are not that tall so we had to lay down big books but they work for most book and magazines just fine.

I'm so glad I found these.
Great bookcases, look fantastic in my house. I was nervous about buying 5 of these but it's turned out to be one of the best furniture purchases I've made.
I would suggest to CB2, though, that the support bars be made wider so as to hold books at the end better and to provide a bit more stability .

Lots of compliments
These are beautiful pieces. We bought two bookcases for our library. They hold a lot of books - and they are lovely to look at. We get a lot of people asking us where we got them.

Perfect Tall Bookshelf with Clean Lines and
I live with roommates in a 3bedroom apartment in Manhattan. This bookcase is PERFECT if you have tall ceilings. Putting the pieces together was a piece of cake - then I just used the drywall screws that came with the assembly kit and done... Now I have more shelf space than I know what to do with!

Best purchase in years
I live in a 1BR 1Bath apt with a den in NY and needed more storage and something interesting for my walls. I purchased 2 of these beautiful, white laquer shelving units and installed them side by side. The height is dramatic, the utility of the shelves is perfect for my needs, and my walls look stunning. Overall a great purchase. One caveat, I installed these using metal anchors/ hardware from Home Depot instead of the plastic anchors. I was afraid the weight of the units would pull the anchors right out of the wall.

Nice, but look out for possible defects
I think the overall quality is good and they are pretty easy to install. I agree with the other reviewer who said it is disappointing that the shelves are all too low for magazines and art books.
I did encounter one disturbing problem - everything looked perfect when it arrived but one of the brackets was welded on upside down so the screws won't fit. I am amazed that someone managed to make this mistake and that it wasn't caught in QC. Also be aware that it ships in 2 boxes. In my case CB2 didn't coordinate the Fedex pickup well so it arrived on 2 separate days - very frustrating if you need to take off from work to wait for a delivery.

Modern touch in vintage house
We bought this bookshelf to go in our 100-year-old house and it looks great with the white moldings! We were so pleased at the "built-in" look that it gives the room. The construction is also really sturdy and the lacquered look is lovely. A great buy, well worth the price and the risk of not seeing it beforehand!

Missing Link
Having bought and assembled four units, there was only one screw that was defective and only slight variations in shelf levels when units side by side. Overall the quality of the product is good. The greatest omission in the design is there is no way to join together two units side by side for added stability.

Gorgeous but limited file storage
We bought these for our studio and loved the way they look. BUT - my heart broke when I realized the height of the shelves is shy of 12" so they DO NOT fit ANY vertical magazine files or even the beautiful 14" high felt file box from CB2. So basically all you can store on these shelves are books and small knick knacks and it can't really be used for file storage. Such a bummer.

Love these shelves
Having been burned by so-called "white" furniture in the past (color not really white, poor finish) I was a bit concerned about these, but I thought I'd take a chance and ordered 3 of them for my office. Happy to report the build quality and finish of every unit was top notch. The lacquer white is bright, shiny, and manufactured perfectly with no defects, scratches, or anomalies. They're very sturdy, tall and gorgeous.
One recommendation. While waiting for these to arrive, head to the hardware store and pick up some lacquer white spray paint. The screws that affix the shelves to the wall are clearly visible and look a bit unfinished. Paint them white beforehand and they'll look far better.

Perfect Shelf
We bought this shelf to put in a very small room with limited storage space. It fit the space perfectly, keeping it open and airy, while still giving us the storage space we needed. The product quality was excellent and it was very easy to put together and install. Would definitely order this shelf again for another room!

Surprisingly sophisticated
Love this shelf - not only is it tall (you won't find many like this) but the glossy white finish, both the shelf and frame, lends a very sophisticated and clean appearance. I would rate this a perfect 5 but the top mounting portion of the frame is not a complete 90-degree. A slight flaw in manufacturing, but stability of shelf is uneffected. We're so happy with it, we just placed an order for another.

No complaints!
This is by far my best purchase from
CB2. I have a 100+ year old home and finding a bookshelf to compliment the high ceilings while taking advantage of the extra vertical storage space was a challenge. After some time searching this bookshelf proved to be a perfect fit. I bought two and have them situated side by side in my media room; they look great and I have received compliments on them from visitors. The shelves are well-made and durable. The assembly was simple as was installation to the wall; this feature adds security to the shelves staying in place as they are weighty, a positive feature indicative of their quality.

Awesome
I love these bookcases! They hold tons of stuff, they are sleek and shiny, and they look great alone or in a grouping. They are so much more open than most bookcases, and the extra shelf is a great bonus.
I have eight of them in my office. I use them nearly entirely for books and binders, and they are just high enough to hold a standard size binder (which is about an inch taller than even most very tall books). They are sturdy enough (properly installed in the wall) to be packed full of hardcover books without strain.
